Working From Home During Coronavirus
Today, more than ever, we know that startups are facing unprecedented challenges. With COVID-19 concerns, the dynamics of development teams have fast-forwarded overnight. Many companies have suddenly decided to transition into a remote workforce model, either for contingency reasons or to leverage the advantages of having developers working from home. This can feel disruptive and even a bit scary. But it doesn’t have to. Here we have compiled a brief list of tips to help you work from home throughout these special times we are all facing.
Maintain Regular Hours
Routine helps us mentally and physically prepare for things. it’s best to stick to a schedule where you can be productive, get your work done and call it a day when work hours are up. Even if you don’t leave the house, dress for work as if you were in the office.
Keep a Dedicated Office Space
Dedicate a desk or a space only for work use. If possible, close the door to reduce external noise, pets or children distractions. Avoid working from the sofa or bed to prevent neck and back aches.
Socialize with Colleagues
Loneliness, disconnection and isolation are common feelings to suffer during a quarantine. Take advantage of opportunities to meet people, talk about common interests and have in-person retreats. Join video-calls sharing your camera to let other people see you and encourage others to do the same.
Look for Training Opportunities
Instead of watching the news all the time, take this time to train yourself in some technology or hobby. It will help you keep your head busy and distract from constant pandemy information bombarding and learn that stuff you never had the time to learn before.
Here are some pretty good MOOCs to start with.
Exercise & Stretch Regularly
Exercise naturally boosts endorphins, which increases happiness, enjoyment, and interest levels. Regularly stretching helps you maintain great posture. At a minimum, stretch throughout the day so you don’t get sore or hinder your quality of life.
